However, limited information is available regarding his family background. While details about his educational background are scarce, it is known that Jason chose not to pursue a college education.
When and How Did He Die?
On April 17th, 2001, Jason met his untimely demise in a deeply distressing incident. He died after a man named James Watson subjected him to a brutal attack, involving physical assault, stabbing, and ultimately shooting.
What went wrong that day?
During that period, Jason resided with Kenny Watson and Kenny’s girlfriend, Tiffany Greco. Kenny was known to possess two handguns—an H&R .22 caliber and a .380 semi-automatic pistol—which he had entrusted to Tiffany for safekeeping in a locker. However, upon their return home on April 15th, 2001, they discovered that the guns, along with some cash and a substantial amount of marijuana, were missing.
Further, two days later, on April 17th, Kenny, James, and their friend Mike Robinson stumbled upon the stolen gun concealed in Jason’s coat. This discovery led to an immediate confrontation with Ryans, resulting in a violent beating. At one point, James wielded a steak knife and inflicted multiple stab wounds on Jason’s hand. He even stabbed Jason’s other body parts.
Jasons was taken to an isolated place instead of a hospital
Following the assault, the Watsons restrained Jason by tying up his wrists and placed him in their vehicle. They claimed they were taking him to Tyler Memorial Hospital near Tunkhannock, a nearby rural hospital. The group accompanying the severely injured Jason included James, Kenny, Jennifer Barr, Mike Robinson, and Rodney Watson.
However, unbeknownst to the group, James had other ideas. He directed Jennifer to stop at a secluded area near Camptown in Bradford County, where he callously shot Jason twice in the head.
Jason Was Married Before His Death
Before his untimely death, he was married to Tamika. The pair exchanged vows in the late 90s. Their marriage was a private affair due to the fact that Tamika was really young and her parents didn’t approve of their relationship.
Their love story began when Tamika was still a teenager, not yet 18 years old. Jason, who was five years older than her, captured her heart, and they entered into a romantic relationship.
Mallory became pregnant at the age of 20
Further, their love grew over time, and they soon faced an unexpected turn of events when Tamika became pregnant with their first child. Although the pregnancy was unplanned, the lovebirds actively embraced the journey of parenthood, defying societal expectations and judgments.
On top of that, the late 90s marked the period when the pair made a commitment to each other through marriage. While specific details about their wedding remain undisclosed, it is evident that they shared a profound and beautiful relationship, which was reflected in their decision to start a family together.
For Jason’s wife, Tamika Mallory, the memory of that day remains painfully vivid. She recalls the moment when her mother urgently called her and requested her immediate return home. Initially hesitant to disclose the devastating news, her mother insisted on her presence, leaving Tamika fearing the worst, particularly for the safety of her child.

Their influential role in organizing the march led to their inclusion in the prestigious TIME 100 list that same year.
Moreover, Mallory is a vocal advocate for several critical causes, including gun control, feminism, and the Black Lives Matter movement. What Happened to Jason’s Family After His Death?
After his death, Tamika chose to keep the details surrounding his death private. She refrained from discussing the incident with others because she didn’t want to disgrace her family. However, as Tamika became more involved in activist circles, she found herself surrounded by others who had also experienced the loss of a child or partner to gun violence. This exposure led her to reflect on her situation and question the need for embarrassment or shame.
